AQTN recognizes that information about our valued members - names, addresses, purchasing history - is a valuable business asset. But unlike other assets, there are strings attached. Members retain an interest in what we do with your personal information. Mishandling it exposes AQTN to risks. It can damage our reputation in the community, lead to legal liability and fines, and destroy the trust that is the cornerstone of good relationships with our customers everywhere in Quebec. Building privacy protections into our business limits these risks and protects our investment in a valuable business asset - member information.
Before we begin, here is a quick review of the different types of information.

Consent is voluntary agreement with what is being done or proposed. Consent can be either express or implied. Express consent is given explicitly, either orally or in writing, such as agreeing to disclose your signature to insurance companies to reduce identity theft in the Membership application form. Express consent is unequivocal and does not require any inference on the part of the organization seeking consent. Implied consent arises where the consent may reasonably be inferred from the action or inaction of the individual.
AQTN considers the following information as either sensitive or potentially sensitive.
When we collect any of these sensitive or potentially sensitive information, we ensure that we get your express consent through the Membership application form. In other words, we ask you, the prospective member, directly, if you consent to AQTN collecting the information and/or disclosing parts of this information to another company such as an Insurance company or your school.
AQTN collects the following information to complete a sale (issuing a permit and membership) or to place a special order for a member:
As the information collected above is necessary to complete an evaluation of a new application, AQTN assumes the prospective member has consented when he or she provides AQTN with the information. This is called "implied consent".

We have reviewed the privacy practices of the insurance companies, and are confident that they meet or exceed
the same standards that AQTN applies to personal information.
Concerning schools, the amount of information they are provided with is quite limited, as they usually already have personal information in their files. Our intent with schools is to verify the training.
When anyone visits AQTN's web site, we also collect:
Responding fairly and quickly to both prospective members and existing members' concerns is one of the fastest ways to privacy compliance. The coordinator knows exactly what personal information AQTN collects and why we collect it, so they can answer questions. If the need arises, this privacy plan may be amended.
AQTN's Privacy Plan is a public commitment we make to our members, and we invite anyone with questions to send us the details of their inquiry by contacting us.
